Dyonisus

Dionysus is the god of the wine because he invented it.

He is the son of Zeus and Semele and the only god that had a mortal parent. Hera, Zeus wife was jealous, and managed that his husband appeared in his true form in front of Semele. Because of this Semele die. Zeus managed to rescue Dionysus and fix him into his thigh to hold him until he was born. His birth from Zeus alone conferred immortality to him. Dionysus problems with Hera were not over. So Zeus arranged for his protection and turned him over the mountain nymphs to be raised.

When Dionysus grew up, he became one of the most important gods in everyday life. He became associated with several key concepts. One was rebirth after death; the other is the influence of wine.
